16 At Home Date Ideas

Dating in 2020 and 2021 has been completely different than ever before and it can be hard coming up with ideas to date your significant other. Here are 16 at home date ideas to keep your relationship fun.

Make it a spa night 

There is no better way to relax than a spa day, let’s do the next best thing and create your own at-home spa night. Get some relaxing face masks and maybe even splurge with a back massager or foot spa! 

Go camping

Dig out the old tent and sleeping bags and go camping! You can go camping in your backyard or even in your living room if it’s cold out! Have a little picnic inside! 

Challenge each other to a bake-off

Turn your kitchen into your own cooking show and have a full-on bake-off and try to wow each other with your best dessert recipe. Even if your desserts are Pinterest-worthy I’m sure they will still taste amazing and the leftovers will be appreciated the next day as well! 

Create a time capsule 

2020 was a whirlwind of a year and so many things have changed. Collect some items around your home that remind you of this year and create a time capsule to open in 5 years. Take some time and also write a letter to your future self. 

Build a fort 

Building a fort was always my go-to on a snow day or when I was bored. Grab all the cushions, pillows, and blankets in the house and build the most legit fort you’ve ever seen! 

Make a bucket list for the next 5 years

In 2020 we all had to stay home and many vacations and big events had to be canceled. Take some time and create a bucket list to do over the next 5 years. 

Play college drinking games 

Throw it back a few (or several) years and play some good ole beer pong or flip cup. Show off your skills to each other! 

Play some board games 

Find some new board games that you’ve never played. Some of our favorites are Rummikub and Ticket To Ride or throw it old school with some old fashioned Battleship. 

Do a puzzle

Puzzles are a great way to feel accomplished and forget about the stresses of the week. Find some fun and challenging puzzles that will keep you chatting all night long without even thinking about your phone or tv. 

Shoot a movie

Get creative and film a movie! Create your characters, script it and you can even film it on your phone. Go all in, pretend you are a character that is totally different than your personality! 

Do an online dance or exercise class 

Did you know that there are thousands of free workouts and dance classes on YouTube? Let loose, get your fitness on or just have fun with some of your old favorites! I can’t help but dance when I hear some good 90s music!

Paint night

Make some cocktails and some art supplies to create your own painting. Pick up some paints, canvases, and channel your inner Bob Ross. 

Play Truth or Dare 

Throw it back to your childhood and play some old fashioned Truth Or Dare! I’m sure some belly aching laughing will happen and you may even learn something about your spouse! 

Play mini-golf 

Set up some obstacles and holes around the house with cardboard and cups. The journey to creating your golf course may just be as fun as playing the game! 

Create a domino effect chain reaction 

Pick up a set of dominos and create your own domino effect chain reaction. See how far you can go without accidentally knocking one over. Then tap the end and watch the chain reaction in action! 

Read a book together 

Take turns reading a book together, whether it’s a fun book, mystery, or one that will help improve your marriage like the book The Five Love Languages.  

Make hand puppet shadows 

Grab the flashlight and turn off the lights and make some hand puppet shadows against the wall. Lookup on YouTube how to position your hand for the best animals!
