Could You Be Saving More Money? Let’s Make Some Changes
If we are honest, it can be hard to save money every month. Many people live paycheck to paycheck and often spend every last penny out of their account.
But, we all want to have a little extra money put to the side for those little luxuries. Things like holidays, weekends away, or just those gorgeous pair of shoes you’ve been lusting after for weeks. However, it’s easier to boost your income than you think.
With that in mind, here are some of the ways you can start saving each month. You will have a pot of gold saved in no time at all.
Look at how much you're spending each month
For many of us, the answer to savings is right in our monthly outgoings. Too often, we leave them alone and just let them leave. However, so many of you are missing a trick and not getting the deals that you deserve. We can think that loyalty pays well, but it pays better to be a new customer for things like electricity rates. This is why you should always check your current deal to ensure that you are paying the least amount possible.
Use cash-back apps
If you are already going to be spending money on groceries, gas, and clothes you might as well earn some cash back at the same time!
Here are my favorite cash back apps and sites that have earned me THOUSANDS of dollars over the years:
- GetUpside is an easy-to-use app that gives you cashback for every gallon of gas that you pump! Use code FIAB20 to get 35 cents per gallon.
- Rakuten (formerly Ebates) is the top app for earning cash back on places that you already shop. They have an app as well as a chrome plugin that will ensure that you never miss a cashback deal. Get $10 bonus when you make a $25 purchase.
- Fetch Rewards is a free grocery savings app that rewards you with free gift cards just for snapping pictures of your receipts. $2 Bonus for using code QHKBH and scanning your first receipt.
- Ibotta is a free grocery savings app that rewards you with free gift cards or cash back through Paypal just for snapping pictures of your receipts.
Reduce the costs you can control
There are many costs we have control over, for example, food. So these are the costs that we should look to reduce. It doesn’t mean buying less or scrimping on quality; sometimes, it’s shopping smarter that can provide you with huge savings.
Meal planning and writing a list is one way to avoid buying things you don’t need. It’s also worth considering where you shop and switching things around. The savings you could make could be immense, and they can be a big way to boost your income.
Creating a savings account and a budget
Creating a separate account for your savings is advisable; this means you are less likely to spend your newfound income. Also, it is worth creating a budget and recording each time you make a transfer or make a saving, here is my personal budget spreadsheet I used to become debt free and still use today. This is handy for when you want to treat yourself, you will know exactly what you have to do that with.
Take on work from home jobs
Sometimes you may need to work a little harder to have a big boost in your income, but if the rewards are good, I’m sure you won’t mind. Thankfully, the internet is rife with ways you can boost your savings from the comfort of your own home. Mystery shopping, clicking on websites, and also taking surveys are just some of the ways.
Turn a hobby into an income
If you have a hobby and it serves you well, use it and turn it into your own business. This is how some bloggers have made their passion for writing work as a fully-fledged business model.
You could do the same with anything you have skills in, be that writing, knitting, or baking. Look at what you can do and take it from there.
Let’s hope this has inspired you to make some extra savings.
